Yo fam, we think we left a nut loose in the passenger airbag....
Yeah just remove it and send it to us so we can x-ray it to see if its rattling around in there.... we’ll send it, or a new one that’s not fucked, in a couple days.
HAVE FUN PUSHING THE DASHLESS 2018 COMPASSES OUTSIDE UNTIL YOU GET THEM.

I’m confused, did the factory screw up, or did a tech take this apart to check something?

He’s got it all laid out pretty clearly in the post and in his tags. Recall of airbag for defect, recall requires sending back the airbag, and they had to disassemble drastically to get it out... with no stock to go back in with, waiting on replacement. In the meantime, unable to move the patient.

Sounds like Jeep recalled the passenger air bag and this is what is required to get the airbag out.

Screw that.

There’s a recall/stop sale on 2018 Compasses for the passenger airbag. We have to remove them, send them to FCA, and wait a few days to get them back and install them. Meanwhile leaving all the Compasses on our lot that fall under the recall in this (or worse, he ain’t done yet) state.

Airbag removal on a jeep is the same amount of work as changing the oil on a Merc.

The stop sale order seems a bit redundant.

Oh yeah if he’s taking the passenger airbag out he’s barely into the job lol.
On a tangent of this, I took the engine and trans out of a MKIV Jetta, and when I went to push it out of the shop I started looking for the park neutral bypass. About five seconds in realized that was... Unnecessary. I laughed at myself.

I can’t wait for all the squeak and rattle complaints.
I haven’t seen a new car this torn apart for a recall since I was at Mazda and we were putting torque converters in brand new CX-5s.
